ACT Global Holds Consultative Meetings in North Macedonia with Energy and Education Sector Representatives

From September 28 to October 3, ACT Global, in collaboration with GPM Consulting, held a series of consultation meetings within the framework of a project funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The initiative supports the establishment of a dedicated training centre for MEPSO, North Macedonia’s electricity transmission system operator, aimed at building the skills and competencies required for the country’s energy transition.

As part of the project’s first phase, a comprehensive baseline assessment was carried out, and its findings were presented to stakeholders. Consultations brought together representatives from the energy and education sectors, including public institutions, universities, VET schools, employers, and industry organizations. The discussions focused on the development of a professional education program and explored opportunities for collaboration among key actors.

In parallel, ACT Global delivered a two-day training for MEPSO staff. The sessions introduced participants to the stakeholder engagement plan, practical tools for its implementation, and methods for applying engagement mechanisms in day-to-day operations.

In the coming months, the project will move toward developing new training curricula, introducing work-based learning pathways, and launching retraining programmes aimed at enhancing the professional skills and capacities of MEPSO staff and representatives from the wider energy sector. Additionally, the project aims to define a long-term sustainability model for the training center, positioning it as a regional hub for transmission sector skills across the Western Balkans.

The project, “Gender and Economic Inclusion Technical Assistance Framework – Skills and Employment / MEPSO Training Centre in South-West Region (North Macedonia)”, is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). It aligns with North Macedonia’s strategic investment plans for reducing coal dependency and advancing a Just Transition, marking a significant step towards strengthening the workforce for a sustainable energy future.
