The assignment supports the establishment of a dedicated in-house regional training centre within MEPSO, North Macedonia's national transmission system operator, to strengthen workforce capacities in line with the requirements of new transmission infrastructure, the National Investment Programme and the country's Just Transition Roadmap. The training centre is intended to equip MEPSO staff and the wider regional workforce with the technical and operational skills needed to support grid modernisation, renewable energy integration and the safe operation of evolving transmission systems.
ACT Global provides end-to-end technical assistance, including labour market diagnostics and assessment of regional skills gaps in the South-West Region, with particular focus on transmission and energy-transition-related occupations. The assignment also includes an institutional and capacity assessment of MEPSO, analysis of infrastructure and training needs, and mapping of public and private stakeholders involved in the energy transition.
ACT Global is also supporting the design of modular training programmes covering technical, operational and soft skills, together with a sustainability and financing model for the long-term operation of the training centre. The assignment further includes communication and visibility activities, stakeholder engagement and coordination with national energy institutions and EBRD teams. Particular attention is given to inclusive workforce development, including increased participation of women and young people in technical energy professions.
