About the Project
The “Strengthening Capacities of Stakeholders for the Implementation of the Strategy for Agricultural Development in Georgia 2015-2020 and the Rural Development Strategy of Georgia 2017-2020” project was implemented by the FAO in Georgia. The project targeted the following pilot regions: Racha-Lechkhumi and Shida Kartli. In the course of this project, the FAO implemented rural development, community development, extension, and climate-smart agricultural activities. The project’s activities were generally aimed at piloting different approaches in the implementation of agricultural development and rural development strategies.
Our Role
ACT conducted a baseline study to explore the status quo with regard to the socio-economic conditions of the project’s targeted communities. A survey explored the perceptions and preferences of respondents regarding means of development across different social groups. The study results provided a thorough analysis of the existing situation in the project’s pilot regions.
Project Outcome(s)
The study results were used by the FAO and project stakeholders to develop evidence-based strategies and to present to the MEPA and other related agencies optimal modalities for the implementation of the agricultural and rural development action plans.
